FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Financial
-
Some of our clinicians are in-network with major insurance providers such as Aetna, UHC, and BCBS. Due to providers having different insurance plans they take - please confirm with our office what plans are taken by each provider before scheduling.
-
Every insurance plan is different so we encourage clients to reach out to their provider and ask what their mental health benefits are. We cannot guarantee that you will be reimbursed for counseling services - but we have clients who file their own insurance and are being reimbursed. This really depends on the company, plan, and clinician you see.
-
We never want finances to be a barrier for someone to receive counseling. Due to the varied experience and training our clinicians each hold - we do not have one set fee for counseling services.
The base fee will be determined on clinician selected their clinical experience, advanced trainings, and professional development.
These are our base fees and may not reflect the exact fee of a given clinician but it will give you an idea of how much counseling might cost.
Student Interns
$25 per session
If you would like to schedule or have questions about scheduling with an intern please email office@teloscounselinggroup.com or give our office a call at 615-212-8481
*Sliding scales are available.
-
Many of our clients use either an HSA or FSA card to pay for counseling. You will be supplied with receipts in case you need to turn these into your banking institution.
-
We do offer a sliding scale for clients in need of financial assistance. If this is something you want more information about please contact our office and we will be happy to share more information about this option. We do not want finances to prevent anyone from receiving counseling services and will work to find a solution.
-
We will process payment through our Simple Practice software. When you set up an appointment you will be required to give credit card information to keep in your profile. This card will be charged the day of your session. Some clients prefer to pay by check or cash. If this is a desire of yours, please let our Care Coordinator know.
-
You will receive a receipt for services and 1x per month what is called a superbill which is what you would turn into your insurance company if you are seeking reimbursement.
Scheduling
-
This is a question we get a lot and the answer is... it depends. It depends on a lot of different factors including client's goals, experiences, and willingness to work. Though the duration of counseling varies we try to respect the limitations of our clients and acknowledge that counseling is a large time and financial commitment.
-
We understand the urgency that most client's have when seeking counseling. We will do everything we can to get you in as soon as possible. We commit to you that we will be as prompt in communications and scheduling. Usually we are able to schedule clients within 1-2 weeks depending on availability of clinicians and flexibility in client's schedule.
-
You absolutely can choose the clinician you want to see. If we think a certain clinician may be a better fit due to availability or expertise we will reach out to discuss this with you.
-
Intern
Interns are students that have completed most if not all of their masters level coursework and are in need of field experience in pursuit of their degree. These students are supervised by a professor at their university in addition to an on site supervisor at Telos. This gives a wonderful opportunity for families to access counseling at a reduced rate while interns gain supervised experience.
Pre-licensed Therapist
A pre-licensed therapist is a clinician who have completed all academic requirements and have graduated. These clinicians are usually supervised for 2-7 years after graduating while gaining clinical experience. The State requires these pre-licensed or temporary licensed clinicians to gain clinical hours, supervision hours, submit an application for licensure to the State, and pass one or multiple national licensure exam(s).
Licensed Therapist
Once all academic, supervised work, and national exam requirements are met, the State issues a license to practice. These clinicians are still required to complete continued educations hours every year and remain in good standing with the State Board and Professional Association in order to maintain licensure.
